Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds send classy message to Wrexham ace after baby news

Wrexham owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have shown their class by sharing in one of their player's baby joy.

Red Dragons midfielder Jordan Davies and his partner Kelsey Edwards opened up on the heartbreaking loss of their unborn son in the Welcome To Wrexham documentary series, but the pair posed for a picture with an ultrasound scan on Friday to share the news that they're expecting a baby girl in May.

The Disney+ show did more than just account matters at The Racecourse Ground, delving deeper into the fanbase and the life of the club's players.

One episode focused on the ordeal endured by the couple, who told the story of Arthur, who was "born sleeping" when Kelsey was 27 weeks pregnant, with the episode dedicated to the little one, showing there is much more to life than football and highlighting the support they family received from the Wrexham community.

Naturally, news of the couple's upcoming new arrival has been met with delight online, with It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia actor McElhenney – who co-owns the National League club with Deadpool star Reynolds – leading the way.

He was quick to tweet "CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!", and his message was soon followed by Reynolds, who added: "Massive congrats to you and Kelsey, Jordan!!!! Love this."

The motives of the actors' takeover of the club in 2021 were questioned from some quarters, but there is no doubt many fans across the country wish the owners of their team were equally as engaged and connected.

Jordan and Kelsey's bravery to share Arthur's story has been widely commended, and the 24-year-old, who has scored three times in 17 games this season, thanked the makers of the documentary for their production.

"Thank you to the documentary team for telling Arthur’s story so beautifully," he posted in October. "Thank you to everyone for the messages and support."

Dozens of fans followed with their own messages of support for Jordan and Kelsey, with one tweeting: "Rooting for you guys! Can't tell you how much your story hit me. It happened to my wife and I this past summer, and now we're expecting a baby in July. I'm genuinely thankful you were willing to share it. Best of luck!"

Another person posted: "Not a Wrexham fan at heart but watched the series and I absolutely love your attitude and the way you approach life and the challenges you have been through. Huge congratulations. You are an inspiration!"
