Rob Lowe's father shares touching tribute to granddaughter Fiona after tragic death at age 13

Rob and Chad Lowe’s father has paid an emotional tribute to his late granddaughter Fiona, who died at the age of 13.

Her death was confirmed to People on Tuesday, September 29 by the Lowe family, who wrote: “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona.”

Fiona, the daughter of Chad and niece of Rob, was remembered as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance”.

Her grandfather Chuck paid tribute to her with an old photo of her smiling at the camera while in a swimming pool.

“Rest in peace sweet Fiona,” he wrote in caption of the Instagram post, which was quickly flooded with messages of condolences.

Announcing her death, her family said: “She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

“Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988,” the statement concluded.

Fiona is survived by her father, Chad, her mother, Kim Painter and her sisters, Mabel and Nixie.

Fiona, the second daughter of Chad and Kim, was born on November 16, 2012. Last year, Chad shared a celebratory post to mark his daughter’s 13th birthday.

“Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!,” he wrote.

Her death comes just over a year after the family lost their home in the Pacific Palisades fire in January 2025.

Chad shared photos of his daughters visiting the charred remains of their destroyed house on Instagram, and he praised their resilience as being “nothing short of remarkable”.
