Rob Gronkowski believes his former teammate, legendary quarterback Tom Brady will return for his 24th season at the age of 46. Brady will become a free agent in just a matter of weeks, and it remains unclear what he will do in 2023 - whether he will indeed walk away from the game, resign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or opt to sign elsewhere.
The questions surrounding whether he not he will retire do not stem from just his age, but his actions this time last year, when he shockingly announced his retirement, only to come back just 40 days later to sign a one-year deal with the Buccaneers.
With big questions and uncertainties coming up for the Buccaneers, Brady may opt to leave the team after spending three years in western Florida - potentially looking for one more season elsewhere at another go at winning a Super Bowl.
A number of potential teams have emerged, including the Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints and New York Jets -all putting him in a strong position to compete for his eight championship.
His long-time teammate Gronkowski gave his thoughts on what he thinks Brady will do in 2023. Speaking on FOX, Gronkowski said: "Everyone wants to know about Tom Brady's future... I don't even think Tom knows about his future holds right now. He was top five in passing yards last season, he can still play the game and he probably is getting treatment already so he's ready to go.
"It will be whatever situation intrigues him the most - that is where he will be next year. I think he will be back playing football."
Many had expected the Buccaneers to compete for a Super Bowl once again in 2022, after winning it in Brady's first season and losing in the divisional round to the eventual champions in 2021, but the team finished with an 8-9 record this past season and never looked close to competing with the better teams in the league.
Although his team had struggles this season, Brady largely looked his regular self throughout the campaign, making highlight throws and finishing as one of the better passers in the league.
In recent years, free agents have taken less money on the open market to move a team with Brady, in order to attempt to win a Super Bowl - a tactic whichever team signs Brady will look to do as soon as free agency opens in mid-March.
