A road was cordoned off following a flat fire in Swansea on Friday afternoon. Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and South Wales Police were called to Heol Gwyrosydd, Swansea, at 12.49pm, following reports of a blaze.
Neighbours said they tried "bashing down the doors" of the property before fire crews arrived as they thought someone might be inside, but it is believed there were no serious injuries. The road was cordoned off for around two hours for the public's safety.
One resident, Dean Reynolds, said: "Two builders drove past and tried getting in with shovels with us but we couldn't get in. Two fire engines showed up and put the fire out within 30 minutes. I was on my way back from work and noticed the smoke. The heat was overwhelming when we went in and the smoke was thick."

Another community member, Steve Williams, said: "I noticed loads of smoke coming out of the top and was worried someone was inside but we couldn't get access to the building. We managed to knock on the below floors and got in but tried busting the door down but couldn't get in and were worried someone was in but they weren't."
