Police shut road for five hours over concerns for safety of a man
A road was closed by police for five hours this morning..
Officers put up tape restricting access both ways on Knowsley Road, Bootle, after concerns about a man in a property on Byron Street. The closure was in place between Rimrose Road to Stanley Road from around 7.30am on Friday, October 7 as police dealt with the incident
North West ambulance service and Merseyside fire and rescue service also attended. Police have confirmed that a man has now left a property and has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "We can confirm an incident on Byron Street in Bootle has now been stood down.
"We were contacted at 7.30am today, Friday 7th October, following concern for the safety of a man in a property. The man has now engaged with officers.

Moment thugs 'ram raid' jewellery store as shoppers watch on
Two thieves dressed in black "ram raided" a jewellery store on a busy street.
A jewellery store was "ram raided" and a quantity of jewellery was stolen from the front window display. Merseyside Police was contacted following reports a car had deliberately rammed the front of Ramsdens on Prescot Road, Old Swan at around 1.45pm on Thursday, October 6.
Two men dressed in black, covering their faces and carrying rucksacks, are reported to have exited the black car and grabbed a quantity of jewellery from the front window display. They then fled the scene in a car which an eyewitness said was "wrecked".

A new, all-you-can-eat restaurant complete with robot waiters is opening in Liverpool ONE today.
Liverpool ONE is known and loved for its wide range of retail stores, as well as a medley of diverse restaurants, with modern venue COSMO the newest to make the bustling location its home. The restaurant has amassed a reputation for offering an authentic taste of popular dishes from across the world.
Ahead of its opening, director Kan Koo said: "We're really excited to be launching COSMO Liverpool as it's a city that is jam-packed with culture and cuisine. Although we are in our nineteenth year, opening a new site is still such a huge moment for us and we can't wait to show everyone what we are all about.
