River Mersey shipyard to get £1m refurbishment in jobs boost

A Mersey shipyard will undergo a £1m expansion programme after being sold to a leading boat manufacturer.

The Carmet Shipyard in Bromorough was bought by the Marine Specialised Technology Group (MST) in the second half of last year. The expansion plan means more boats, and larger vessels, can be built in the 6.5-acre shipyard.

The 80m main and 50m secondary boat building halls will be completely refurbished. New offices, car parks and cranes will be built. There will also be a new slipway directly into the river and an amphibious boat hoist, which helps to launch the boats.
