Rivals 'pushing hard' for Nottingham Forest transfer target as three way race emerges

Nottingham Forest could have a transfer fight on their hands should they wish to sign Wolves’ Morgan Gibbs-White this summer, with two more clubs reportedly showing their interest.

Gibbs-White caught the eye while on loan with Sheffield United last season. The 22-year-old scored 13 goals and provided a further 10 assists in 40 appearances in all competitions last season.

The attacker has emerged as a key target for Steve Cooper since Forest confirmed their promotion to the Premier League back in May. The Reds have already added three new faces to their squad with Taiwo Awoniyi, Dean Henderson and Guilian Biancone all completing summer moves to the City Ground.

Wolves are said to be keen on keeping the player, who has two years remaining on his deal, tied down to a new deal. However, the Daily Mail report that the club are now "willing to listen to offers" for the players after he stalled on signing a new contract.

That will come as good news for Forest, but should they wish to complete a deal for Gibbs-White then it looks like they will have to beat of competition from two other Premier League clubs. The Athletic report that Everton have shown a "late interest" in the England U21 international and could use some of the money that they’ve raised from the sale of Richarlison to fund a transfer.

It’s not only Everton who are showing an interest, with talkSPORT reporting that Crystal Palace are "pushing hard" for the player this summer. Wolves are said to be looking for a fee of between £25million and £30million for Gibbs-White.

Forest could have an advantage in the race due to the player’s relationship with head coach Cooper. The two worked together as the England U17s lifted the World Cup back in 2017, before reuniting in 2020/21 when Gibbs-White signed on a season-long loan with Swansea City.
