Brazilian legend Rivaldo has described Luis Diaz as Liverpool’s new “secret weapon”.
The Colombian winger signed for the Reds in a £49 million deal towards the end of the January transfer window, beating initial competition from Tottenham for his signature.
Diaz had scored 14 goals in 18 league games for Porto, as well as providing five assists, before making the move to the Premier League.
Having also been joint-top scorer at Copa America last summer, Rivaldo is well-aware of Diaz’s ability and believes he will play a key role for Jurgen Klopp as his side battle for major honours.

“Liverpool signed Colombian attacker Luis Diaz who has been excellent at FC Porto in both the Portuguese League and Champions League, and I think the club's decision to sign him now is intended to offer Jurgen Klopp more options in the attack,” Rivaldo told Betfair .
“With the Colombian in the squad, Klopp can manage his most used players like Sadio Mane and Mo Salah which will contribute to keeping them at their peak form when the time for big Premier League and Champions League games arrive.
“Diaz has a lot of quality and will certainly be an excellent secret weapon on many occasions at Anfield.”
Ballon d’OR winner Rivaldo has been quite vocal about Liverpool ’s attacking options throughout the season.
He previously stated last month that signing Leeds forward Raphinha would be a “great move” for both Liverpool and his countryman.
The 49-year-old World Cup winner also expressed his concern over Roberto Firmino’s place in Jurgen Klopp’s side, suggesting that a move to his former club Barcelona would be “very possible” , if Firmino wanted to ensure his place in the Brazil squad.
However, Rivaldo reserved his biggest praise for Mohamed Salah, who he placed in contention for the Ballon d’OR, back in October .
“He's one of the best players in the world right now because his astonishing numbers in terms of goals and assists are obtained in the Premier League and Champions League, two of the most difficult competitions in the planet.
“When you are so good in demanding conditions, then of course you are a top player who deserves to be among the contenders for the Ballon d'Or this season.”
