Rishi Sunak marginally less unpopular than Liz Truss, according to Scottish voters

Rishi Sunak is narrowly less unpopular than Liz Truss in Scotland, according to a new poll. Three in five Scots have an unfavourable opinion of each of the two candidates to be Prime Minister, with 60 per cent unfavourable towards Liz Truss and 59 per cent unfavourable towards Rishi Sunak.

While neither of the Conservative leadership candidates is very popular, both are an improvement on Scottish public opinion of Boris Johnson, who is disliked by 74 per cent of Scots according to the poll.

New research by Ipsos, sampled in the weekend before the Scottish Tory leadership hustings 12th-15th August, found one in five Scots (19 per cent) have a favourable opinion of Rishi Sunak, while 15 per cent have a favourable opinion of Liz Truss and 14 per cent a favourable opinion of Boris Johnson.
