Rio Ferdinand admitted there is an element of risk in regards to Manchester United's transfer strategy of primarily targeting Dutch players in the summer transfer window.
Erik ten Hag completed his first signing of the summer with the capture of Dutch international Tyrell Malacia earlier in the week, with United also interested in a move for his international teammate Frenkie de Jong. The new United manager is also keen on a number of players who have plied their trade in Dutch football, with Ajax duo Antony and Lisandro Martinez on his radar, along with former Ajax ace Christian Eriksen.
Ten Hag appears to have a clear preference in regards to the players he is going after and Ferdinand admits it does represent some risk. But he noted examples of players who have taken the Premier League by storm having joined from the Eredivise.

"Do you think you should be spreading it out? Yeah, I think that works if you spread it out.
"Listen, some Dutch players work straight from the Dutch league and some players, look at Luis Suarez. He came from there, hit the ground running, he was brilliant. It does happen where players do come, Ruud van Nistelrooy over the years. It does happen.
"I'm just saying this is a team in need of players who can come in and do well immediately. That's the difference."
