Rio Ferdinand tore into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick for their handling of Jadon Sancho, blaming them for his struggles.
Plenty had been expected of the forward after his £73m move from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
United desperately targeted the England international after failing to land him the year before in the transfer saga of the year.
And after finally getting their man, Sancho has largely failed to impress when given the chance.
Initially, the 21-year-old struggled and was handed spare minutes by Solskjaer as he struggled to get to grips with the Premier League.
The Norwegian was sacked and Michael Carrick came in - where Sancho scored his first goal in the league in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
But his form dipped yet again under Rangnick, though he got his second of the season in the FA Cup loss to Middlesbrough on Friday night.
And Ferdinand has tore into the two managers for Sancho’s struggles after failing to set up their sides to get the best out of the winger.
With United facing Burnley in the Premier League, Ferdinand told BT Sport host Jake Humphrey: “On a consistent basis yeah [want to see more of what’s expected].
“I think sometimes adaptation to the league, he’s come from Germany, a very different style, the pace, he came from a team with identity, understanding of how to play, he was finely tuned into that.
“He’s come to a place where that was up in the air that aspect, it's been difficult."
"It’s difficult for a player to come in when there’s thing to work out and you’re in the midst of that as a new player so Jadon Sancho is a player who gets players off balance, play’s one-twos, follows passes, very good in that sense.
"I think some people expected with the price-tag and he’s came to Man United he’s going to be someone marauding from box-to-box, he not like that.
“He’s more of a thinking winger who can play things, the team has to be set up for someone like that to play."

Sancho has scored just once in the Premier League and has yet to register a single assist across all competitions.
However, there is reason for the Camberwell-born ace to feel positive about is upcoming chances.
Rangnick has been credited with helping young players achieve their potential - with some excellent cases at RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg.
Anthony Martial has been loaned to Sevilla while Mason Greenwood has been suspended by United, meaning Sancho is more assured of a first-team slot.
