Matières Fécales has added another major celebrity appearance to its growing fashion profile. On September 28, Rihanna attended the label's Spring/Summer 2027 show during Paris Fashion Week, wearing a bronzed, metallic skirt suit that brought the experimental label's distinctive approach to the front row.
The appearance comes shortly after Zendaya wore Matières Fécales for The Odyssey press tour. The actress's white feathered gown, complete with dramatic wings extending behind her, became one of the label's most recognizable recent celebrity looks.
For Rihanna, however, the setting was different. Rather than wearing one of the label's theatrical red-carpet gowns, she arrived at its Paris show in a two-piece look that put the focus on texture, tailoring and metallic detailing.
Rihanna Brings Metallic Tailoring to the Front Row
Rihanna's outfit consisted of a terracotta-toned skirt suit covered in a glittering, tinsel-like material. The blazer and matching midi skirt had a distressed finish, with the texture becoming more pronounced around the collar, cuffs and hem.
Underneath the jacket, Rihanna wore a black bra top. Vogue described the overall look as a bronzed, tinseled two-piece, paired with black Christian Louboutin pumps featuring the curved heel associated with the footwear designer's collaboration with Matières Fécales.

The exact skirt suit was not shown as part of the Spring 2027 runway collection. Marie Claire notes that this has led to speculation that the outfit was made specifically for Rihanna, but neither publication confirms that it was a custom design.
Her footwear, meanwhile, had a more established connection to the label. Matières Fécales and Christian Louboutin previously collaborated on the curved-heel shoes, which have also appeared on other celebrities, including Lady Gaga.
Inside Matières Fécales' Spring 2027 Show
Rihanna's appearance came as Matières Fécales presented its latest collection beneath the Monument à la République at Paris's Place de la République. Vogue reported that all 99 models in the show were people of color, with the designers using the collection to explore representation and inclusion.
The show was divided into three acts. Its opening section drew heavily on Steven Raj Bhaskaran's personal history and included references to his upbringing, while a second act explored punk and metal influences and what Bhaskaran described as a "protest section." The final portion expanded into couture, incorporating textiles and craft traditions associated with the Global South.
Distressed tailoring and unconventional eveningwear remained important elements throughout the collection. Vogue described the presentation as a deliberately broad exploration of identity, representation and fashion, with the designers positioning the show around the idea of the "99%" rather than the luxury industry's traditional focus on the elite.
Rihanna's arrival therefore placed one of the season's most recognizable celebrities directly alongside a collection built around those themes. Her metallic skirt suit was separate from the runway lineup, but its distressed finish and exaggerated texture aligned closely with the label's established visual vocabulary.
From Zendaya's Wings to Rihanna's Paris Fashion Week Look
Rihanna's appearance also adds another chapter to Matières Fécales' increasingly visible relationship with celebrity fashion. The Montreal-founded label, created by Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran, has dressed several high-profile figures, but Zendaya's The Odyssey appearance brought particular attention to the house in 2026.
For that New York premiere, Zendaya wore the closing look from Matières Fécales' Fall 2025 show. Marie Claire reports that the label had loaned the gown to her stylist, Law Roach, after he had previously expressed interest in the design.
Rihanna's September 28 appearance offered a different interpretation of the label. Instead of the sculptural drama of Zendaya's winged gown, she wore a sharply tailored skirt suit transformed by metallic fibers and deliberately distressed detailing.
The result was a celebrity front-row look that remained closely connected to the designers' experimental approach while standing apart from the collection presented on the runway that evening.
