Rihanna's dad reportedly had "no idea" his daughter was expecting a second child with A$AP Rocky and is thought to have 'found out while watching the Super Bowl'.
Ronald Fenty, 69, had flown in from Barbados to see his Umbrella singer daughter, 34, perform during the game's half time show last weekend.
The Diamond singer delivered a show-stopping set in a revealing red jumpsuit, confirming her second pregnancy - nine months after the birth of her first son.
But while the world was finding out about Rihanna's big news, Ronald was reportedly none the wiser, putting two and two together after seeing his daughter perform.
"Oh my God! My baby girl looks pregnant," he recalled telling his partner while watching the show alongside his partner, reports TMZ.
He told the outlet of his hopes that Rihanna 'welcomes a baby girl this time'.
Ronald had divorced wife Monica Braithwaite, the chart-topping singer's mum, amid a struggle with drink and drug issues when Rihanna was just a teenager.
He was even the subject of a lawsuit delivered by his daughter who accused him of misusing her name to benefit his own entertainment company – she later dropped it in 2021.
Speaking last year, Ronald spoke fondly of being a granddad to his daughter's first born, admitting: "She’s loving it. She’s a very overprotective mother."
"Everybody says [the baby] looks like me," he told Page Six at the time. "But you know, babies change, faces change. He [resembles] a lot of Rihanna and Rocky together."
He had previously noted 'not knowing' if Rihanna and A$AP, birth name Rakim Mayers, would ever tie the knot, saying: "I don’t know about marriage, I really don’t know."
The Mirror has contacted Rihanna's representatives for a comment.
It comes after news that her Super Bowl pregnancy announcement was 'unplanned' and 'last minute', according to one of the show's choreographers.
The entire ordeal was supposed to remain under wraps, that was until the chart-topping hitmaker's bump was "really showing".
The brains behind the show, choreographer Parris Goebel, broke her silence, saying they had to change up their ideas at the "last minute".
Speaking on ABC's GMA3, she explained: "Honestly, she didn't really know if she was going to be showing or not."
Known professionally as Parris, the Emmy Award-winning choreographer said that Rihanna was "not planning to make a reveal at all".
"She was going to maybe wear something baggy that didn't really show and then leading up to the show we were just like 'oh she's really showing'," she explained.
