Right-wingers are mad that Kamala Harris bought a cooking pot - here’s why

“Breaking: VP Harris buys quality cookware at a decent price. And?”

Vice President Kamala Harris took a well-deserved break from her diplomatic Paris trip to pick up some fancy cookware for Thanksgiving – and people are strangely mad about it.

In what was branded a “breaking investigative exclusive”, The Washington Free Beacon broke the news on her leisurely trip to E. Dehillerin, a Parisian cookware store near the Louvre. One social media user even assumed the attempt to create “scandal” to be satire – though it did include some practical advice on high-quality cookware.

Harris reportedly purchased a $375 serving dish, a $160 frying pan, along with smaller accessories totalling around $600, according to the news outlet.

People turned to Twitter to mock the announcement and their dismay at the unnecessary backlash.

“She’s got great taste. Dehellerin isn’t just a boutique, it’s a shrine, and she is an accomplished cook. And she spent her own damn money,” one said. “TFG blew millions of taxpayer dollars lining his own pockets, and with “their” money, Melania bathes in champagne. Give it a rest.”

“How awful that the @VP bought cookware with the money she earned,” another joked. “Remind me again: how many millions did taxpayers pay for #TheFormerGuy‘s hundreds of golf trips?”

Another added: “I’ve spent easily that much on new cookware and you didn’t report on me. I feel cheated.”

The VP has recently made history, being the first woman to take over presidential power while Joe Biden underwent a routine colonoscopy.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said: “As was the case when President George W Bush had the same procedure in 2002 and 2007, and following the process set out in the Constitution, President Biden will transfer power to the Vice President for the brief period of time when he is under anaesthesia,

“The Vice President will work from her office in the West Wing during this time,” it continued.
