Ricky Tomlinson and other famous faces have paid tribute to former Emmerdale star Peter Martin following his death.
Earlier this week, we reported Peter Martin, 82, had died. In Emmerdale, he was known to millions as Len Reynolds. He played the character between 2001 and 2007.
While he was also a popular member of comedy The Royle Family’s cast. Of course, he starred alongside Ricky Tomlinson, 83, who played Jim Royle.

As reported by our colleagues at the Liverpool Echo, Ricky, has paid tribute through a friend. Comedian John Martin said: "Ricky Tomlinson (who doesn’t do social media) has asked me to pay tribute to Peter Martin who sadly has passed away.
"Ricky said he was an absolute joy to work with and a brilliant actor. He will be sadly missed by Ricky. R.I.P."
Peter Martin enjoyed a rich and varied acting career. Many will likely know him for his comedy role in a series of TV ads for builder's merchants Jewson in the 1980s. He played a confused customer listening to a salesman reel off a list of exotic timbers on offer.
Peter's family were from Hull, but as he was born in December 1941, his mother gave birth in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, because of the heavy bombing inflicted on the docks around the port. In his career, Peter also had parts in Coronation Street and All Creatures Great and Small.
He appeared opposite Ewan McGregor and Pete Postlethwaite in the film Brassed Off. He’ll be fondly remembered in the village Barrow-upon-Humber.

BBC newsreader Peter Levy has also paid tribute to the former Emmerdale actor. He said: “So sad to hear about Peter Martin. Hull born and lived around here all his life. In so many big shows, he was instantly recognisable. He was down to earth and totally unaffected. A lovely man. RIP Peter.” While, ITV Calendar presenter Victoria Whittam added: “So sad to hear Emmerdale actor Peter Martin has died at the age of 82. He played Len for many years on the soap. Thoughts are with his family, friends and fans xx.”
