The San Francisco 49ers received scary news Saturday afternoon when first-round pick Ricky Pearsall was shot during an attempted robbery in downtown San Francisco.
Pearsall during a struggle for the gun was shot through the chest. He is in stable condition at a San Francisco hospital.
Sunday morning Pearsall’s mother, Erin, posted an update on Facebook that the San Francisco Chronicle’s Eric Branch posted to Twitter (currently X).
The update was a positive one, indicating Pearsall is awake and in good spirits. She also confirmed the bullet went clear through his chest and out his back, and missed vital organs.
Can confirm this is from Erin Pearsall’s Facebook account. Very encouraging update on her son. pic.twitter.com/lAbY0IaQ1v

It’s unclear when Pearsall will be able to leave the hospital, much less return to the football field.
The good news is he’s alive and doing well per the update. We will provide additional information about his status whenever it comes available.
