Comedian Ricky Gervais has insisted he "wants to get cancelled" over his new TV show, which is bound to cause controversy.
The After Life writer and actor, 60, is keen to push boundaries as far as he can with his new series Armageddon - and says he will not be phased if it causes a negative impact on his future career.
Speaking about the new stand-up show, Ricky said he is "treating it like his last one ever" and by doing so is not bothered about the backlash he might receive from fans.
He told Heat how he "can't wait" to get to work on the comedy show, saying: "I'm treating it like it's my last one ever. It won't be, but I want to put everything into it. I want to try and get cancelled. No, I just want to go all-out there."
Ricky added: "It's about the end of the world and how we're going to destroy ourselves for lots of reasons, whether it's media stupidity, or the actual end of the world."
It comes after the presenter said he reckons he'd get cancelled if he presented the Oscars, after his controversial Golden Globes stint in 2020.
Ricky presented the Golden Globes in 2020, where the comedian did a great job at entertaining the masses, and many now want the star to host the Oscars.
The Oscars hasn't had a host since 2018, when American talk-show host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel headed up the prestigious event, so when organisers of the ceremony asked fans who should present the programme, many pledged the name of Ricky.
Lots of fans penned Ricky's name in the comments section, putting him forward and almost nominating him for the role of host, but the star isn't too sure he's cut out of the job.
Daily Star have reported that the comedian and actor said: "They'd never let me do what I wanted. I mean, that's why the Globes got me.
"They said I could write my own jokes and say what I wanted, no rehearsals.
"I don't think the Oscars would ever allow me that freedom and rightly so... I'd do the Oscars but it won't happen. I'd get cancelled halfway through."
When Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes in 2020, the audience packed full of A-listers and big-name Hollywood stars squirmed when the comedian unleashed a barrage of jokes at their expense.
He told the audience on the night: "If you do win an award tonight, don't use it as a platform to make a political speech.
"You're in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.
"Come up, thank your agent, thank your God and f*** off. "
