Ricky Gervais adds extra Cardiff date to huge stand-up tour

Ricky Gervais has added another Cardiff date to his huge stand-up tour as he prepares for his third performance in the capital in the space of six months. The comedian was initially only due to perform his latest show Armageddon for fans in the city in December, before adding another date the following month due to phenomenal demand.

Now the creator of The Office and After Life has added a third show in the capital this summer, taking to the stage at the Cardiff International Arena on Wednesday, June 14. He already performed the show at the same packed out venue on December 15 last year before returning on January 18.

Tickets for the new date will go on sale this Friday, March 31 at 10am and are available to buy from Ticketmaster. You can also get the latest What's On and events news from across Wales sent straight to your inbox for free by signing up to our newsletter.

Further UK dates have been added to the Armageddon tour, including stops in Leeds, Birmingham, Dublin and Bristol, while Gervais is also set to perform four dates at the prestigious London Palladium in September before one massive show at the Wembley Arena the following month.

The comedian will also be touring around Europe, with new dates announced for gigs in Stockholm, Oslo, Lisbon and Berlin, while he is also taking his show to the United States and Canada this year and playing the Hollywood Bowl in May. The huge tour is set to run into early 2024, when it will be released on Netflix.

Gervais' shows, which are for age 16 and over, see the comedian back on the road once more following his SuperNature tour in 2019 and his global smash hit Humanity. The funnyman, who also created hit series including Extras and Derek, has won legions of new fans in the last few years with his Netflix tragi-comedy After Life, in which he played a widow going about life after his wife dies of cancer.

He is not the only performer bringing laughs to Cardiff in 2024, however, with a stellar lineup of comic talent also visiting the city over the course of the year. Peter Kay's sold-out comeback tour stops off in the capital in June, with Romesh Ranganathan, Jimmy Carr and Frankie Boyle also all performing here in the summer.

Josh Widdicombe and Rob Beckett are bringing a live show of their hit podcast Parenting Hell to the Cardiff International Arena in April, while Michael McIntyre is playing two nights at the same venue in December. Elsewhere, the likes of Mo Gilligan, Jon Richardson, Sarah Millican, Tim Key, Phil Wang and Jayde Adams will all be performing at venues across the city this year.
