Richarlison must bide his time if he is to be a success at Tottenham, according to Eduardo da Silva.
The former Arsenal and Brazil striker has said he understands his fellow countryman’s difficulties in adapting to the north London club, following his move from Everton last summer.
Last week, Richarlison hit the headlines with a frank assessment of his first season at Spurs, which prompted an apology to his team-mates.
Eduardo has called on the 25-year-old to keep his head down and have faith that he can hit top form next season.
“Sometimes it is hard to hit the ground running at a new club but Richarlison has good qualities and has also been in the Premier League for such a long time,” he told Betway.
“Maybe the World Cup affected him as well as his injury and he hasn’t been able to mentally prepared himself to deal with it.
“As a Brazilian, I understand that the Brazilian mentality means it is hard to adapt. Players tend to get frustrated when they don’t get enough minutes on the pitch, and a lot of Brazilian players behave that way.
“But If I was him, I would wait until next season because I believe he will get his chance. He should be patient and be private with his own frustrations.
“If you express your frustrations to people, it could have a negative impact on your team whether it is to the media or the dressing room. He should keep his head down, work hard and I believe he will get his chance.”
