Richarlison admits there was "no chance" of Tottenham players approaching Antonio Conte to joke about his fiery bust-up with former Chelsea counterpart Thomas Tuchel.
The two managers were embroiled in a heated row after their sides played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Premier League in August. After making a point of celebrating in front of each other when their teams scored, Conte and Tuchel exchanged verbal barbs as a full-time handshake turned sour.
They were both sent off and subsequently received five-figure fines from the Football Association, while Tuchel was later handed further punishment for his comments about referee Anthony Taylor. The German, who was sacked by Chelsea earlier this month, and Italian rival Conte are renowned for wearing their hearts on their sleeves.
Such is the latter's passion that Richarlison claims it would have been ludicrous to have tried to poke fun at him for his encounter with Tuchel. "That was fun, wasn't it?" Richarlison told FourFourTwo of the incident. "At the time, we were still involved with the game, so we watched what happened between them on video in the dressing room."
Quizzed on whether any Spurs players attempted to make light of the clash, Richarlison responded: "Are you insane? No chance, come on! Would you try any jokes? I did not."
Speaking in his post-match press conference at Stamford Bridge, Conte was keen to brush the incident under the carpet, just as his counterpart was. The former Chelsea and Juventus boss told reporters: "My opinion is it's better to talk about the game.
Who will finish higher in the Premier League this season: Tottenham or Chelsea? Have your say in the comments!
"It was a difficult game for both teams and we try in every game to be competitive. Chelsea showed they are a really good team. Compared to last season we did better, but if we want to create problems for Chelsea [in the table] we have to be better.
"I don't want to comment on the [Tuchel] situation, this is not the most important thing. If there's a problem, it's between me and him. It's normal to come here and to suffer but at the same time we created chances to stay in the game."
While Chelsea have parted ways with Tuchel and appointed Graham Potter as his replacement, Spurs have made a strong start to the Premier League season under Conte. The North Londoners are undefeated after their opening seven games and sit one point behind Arsenal, who top the table at this early stage.
After the international break, Tottenham take on their local rivals at the Emirates while Chelsea are also in action in the capital, making the short trip to Crystal Palace.
