FOX Sports 1 has reportedly found a new candidate to replace Shannon Sharpe and join Skip Bayless on the popular sports debate program Undisputed.
NFL cornerback Richard Sherman reportedly met with Bayless on Wednesday in Beverly Hills to discuss the possibility of Sherman joining Bayless on the sports program, The New York Post‘s Andrew Marchand wrote on Thursday.
Sharpe left earlier this year after holding the co-chair on the sports show, and Marchand noted in his report that Sherman and Bayless do have shared history on-air in an infamous First Take segment.
Bayless and Sherman have a history together, dating back more than a decade ago on ESPN’s First Take. Sherman, then a player and a guest on the program, told Bayless to “address me as All-Pro Stanford graduate.”
Sherman added that Bayless “had never accomplished anything.” Bayless shot back that he had “accomplished more in [media]” than Sherman had in football. Sherman returned fire that he was named All-Pro, meaning he was one of the best 22 at what he does, and didn’t believe Bayless was in the first 22 at anything.
Sherman recently appeared on Amazon’s Thursday Night Football coverage.
Other candidates could emerge, and Sherman hasn’t necessarily been deemed a finalist. However, coupling Sherman with Bayless could give FOX Sports 1 the combination it needs to keep viewers engaged with the program.
We’ll see if any other names emerge in the days to come. Former NFL running back LeSean McCoy’s name has also popped up as a possibility.
