Richard Madeley has revealed that his daughter Chloe didn't speak for an entire day after he introduced her to Britney Spears.
Richard, 65, was hosting Tuesday's Good Morning Britain alongside Ranvir Singh when he shared the anecdote.
The presenting duo were discussing the news that Britney is pregnant when Richard decided to recall his own experience of hanging out with the pop star.
Holding up his phone to show an old photo of him and his daughter Chloe, Richard said: "This is Chloe my daughter when she was about 10, and this is when she was at the apex of her fandom of Britney.
He continued: "And we interviewed Britney Spears on one of our shows and we obviously had to give Chloe the morning off school.
"So she came in and Britney Spears comes on the floor of the studio in the commercial break and by arrangement came up to Chloe and said, 'Hello Chloe, really nice to meet you'... she's so sweet.
"I'm not making this up, Chloe didn't speak for the rest of the day! She lost the power of speech for the rest of the day until bed time, and cried, tears just constantly running down her cheek," Richard revealed.
Bursting out laughing, Ranvir then said: "That's actually lovely isn't it?"
Richard added: "And Britney was clearly well used to this kind of reaction. And now my daughter's expecting as well so there you go, the circle of life!"
Britney announced her happy news via Instagram on Monday evening, revealing she got a pregnancy test after partner Sam Asghari suggested she take one following their trip to Maui.
The singer told her followers that she was confused after appearing to put on weight after her trip to Maui, prompting her partner to suggest that she could be pregnant.
Britney also admitted that she was concerned as she had suffered with perinatal depression in the past.
She wrote: "I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back … I thought “Geez … what happened to my stomach ???” My husband said “No you’re food pregnant silly !!!” So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby … 4 days later I got a little more food pregnant It’s growing !!! If 2 are in there … I might just loose it …(sic)."
Britney added: "It’s hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression … I have to say it is absolutely horrible … women didn’t talk about it back then … some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her … but now women talk about it everyday … thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret… This time I will be doing yoga every day !!! Spreading lots of joy and love !!!"
