Richard Keys blasts Jurgen Klopp for two decisions ahead of Liverpool defeat to Nottingham Forest

Richard Keys has criticised Jurgen Klopp for his team selection in Liverpool's 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

The only goal of the game came from former Red, Taiwo Awoniyi, who tapped in during the second-half. Liverpool had their fair share of chances to get on the scoresheet but their luck was out on the day.

Virgil van Dijk has a number of opportunities and saw one of his best efforts clawed off the line from Dean Henderson in the dying moments. But for Klopp, his injury problems were laid bare as Thiago Alcantara was a late withdrawal to add to the mounting casualty list.

Unfortunately for the Reds, they couldn't follow up their wins over Manchester City and West Ham as Steve Cooper's side picked up just their second win of the campaign as they look to move out of the relegation zone.

As a result of the injury issues, Fabinho, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones started in midfield with Jordan Henderson on the bench.

Disgraced former Sky Sports presenter Keys took aim at Klopp for his decision to leave Trent Alexander-Arnold and the Liverpool skipper on the bench after the Spaniard pulled out of the clash in the early hours of the morning.

"Klopp cost Liverpool at Forest," he wrote in his blog. "His team selection was all wrong. I know they’ve got injury problems and losing Tiago (sic) so late was a real blow, but you can’t then leave out Henderson and Alexander-Arnold.

"He had babies in mid-field and they weren’t good enough. They tell me that Henderson needs to be ‘managed’ these days. Maybe he does, but he’s only started eight games this season. Surely he’s got more in his tank yet?"
