Rhod Gilbert has announced his first comedy tour after undergoing cancer treatment.
The Welsh standup has confirmed 110 dates for Giant Grapefruit between January 2024 and November 2025, including performances in London.
The 54-year-old announced last July he had stage four neck and head cancer but has now recovered to the point of contemplating another tour.
“It’s a show about navigating the dark bits and turning life’s giant grapefruits into something approaching lemonade,” he said.
"After the year I’ve had it’s wonderful to be alive and going back on the road.”
His previous tour The Book of John ran from 2019 until 2023 due to Covid-19 and his cancer diagnosis. But despite this it was met with good reviews and was seen by more than 200,000 people.
This is what you can expect from Rhod Gilbert And The Giant Grapefruit.
What to expect from the set
Gilbert’s publicist has said the show reflects Gilbert’s life turning sour.
A press statement reads: “But Rhod’s not bitter; he’s bouncing back and feeling remarkably zesty. Hilariously dark, passionate and way too personal, this is classic Gilbert, squeezing every last drop out of life’s latest curveballs... with a little help from an old adversary.”
The show is about “navigating the dark bits” in life in a “candid, hilarious and uplifting way”.
Gilbert added: "After the year I've had it's wonderful to be alive and going back on the road. I can't wait to get back on stage and I'm ready to get way too personal about life's recent ups and downs.”
