Rex Regum Qeon releases VALORANT head coach Jovi after one season

Rex Regum Qeon has parted ways with head coach Jovi and given him permission to find a new role ahead of the next competitive cycle. Jovi spent just one year leading the Indonesian organization's VALORANT side before the two parties decided it was time to part ways.

The departure makes Jovi the latest coaching staff member to enter the free agent pool as rosters across the VALORANT scene reset ahead of the next season. RRQ has not yet named his replacement as of the time of writing.

A wave of staff movement across the scene

Catch-up on some of MAGNUM’s best plays in August

Jovi's departure was one of several staff moves on Sept. 14 across VALORANT esports. Enterprise Esports freed up MAGNUM two days after PCIFIC released ZaeS. Eternal Fire also let in-game leader nekky go around the same time. Several players and staff members have been given permission by BBL Esports to explore new options, with the post-season window already frantic with roster changes.

For RRQ specifically, allowing a head coach to leave after just one year suggests the organization is rethinking its coaching structure heading into 2027. The Indonesian organization has long been one of the most recognizable brands in Southeast Asian esports, and staff decisions shape how the roster is constructed around them.

What this means for Jovi's next move

Jovi enters an active free agency market as several high-profile VALORANT programs rebuild their rosters.

The timing falls within the stretch between the end of regional league play and the start of the following year's signing period, historically the busiest roster-move window in VALORANT. Coaches and analysts who become available now have more time to secure a placement before rosters lock for the next cycle.

Writer's take

One season is a short run for any coach, and it's reasonable to read this as a tactical reset on RRQ's part, with no need to look too critically on Jovi's performance. The broader wave of staff moves happening at the same time also suggests the whole scene is reshaping at once, which makes the timing less unusual than if it was a one-off,

RRQ has not indicated when it expects to confirm a new coaching appointment. More clarity on the organization's direction for the upcoming VALORANT season is expected as the signing window progresses.
