Revenue officers seized 6.6kg worth of Cannabis today in the Sligo area after a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Sligo Divisional Drugs Unit.
Officers estimated the value of the drugs found at over €132,000 and arrested a man in his 20s at the scene.
He is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in Co. Sligo, and investigations are ongoing.

A statement released this evening read: “Today (22/03/2023), as part of an intelligence-led operation, Revenue officers seized approximately 6.6kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of over €132,000 in the Sligo area.
“This seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Sligo Divisional Drugs Unit.
“A man in his 20s was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in Co. Sligo.
“Investigations are ongoing.
“This seizure was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
