I love hosting at this time of year. Hosting in the fall, for me is far more stressful and takes far more organizing. But for the summer, I have a bit of an open-door policy at weekends – friends and family come over to sit in the yard, and enjoy whatever food and drink I can cobble together, expectations are low but the vibes are high.
So I treat my yard with as much care and attention as my kitchen or living room. as it really does become the heart of the home during summer. That means I am always looking out for those key pieces that are going to make the space even more inviting. And right now, top of my list is a patio umbrella. Specifically, a whimsical, slightly retro umbrella.
