Former President Gerald Ford once said, "I know I am getting better at golf because I am hitting fewer spectators." If you've ever golfed, you know what he means. And if you’re retired, you know that the game of golf isn’t just for the young at heart. It’s a sport that anyone with a little patience can play, whether you're 8 or 98.

In 2024, 47.2 million Americans played golf. Of these players, 15% were older adults, according to the National Golf Foundation. Golf is a sport for all ages, but it’s perfect for those in retirement. And, it’s not just because they have more time at their disposal, although that’s certainly a factor.
