NAKHON RATCHASIMA: Local officials and police raided a restaurant-pub in Muang district and found many customers drinking alcohol after hours on Thursday night.
The restaurant operator was charged with breaking Covid-19 restrictions.
Senior Muang district official Satthaphan Phengjaemsri led the raid on Mok Monkey restaurant on Suranarai Road around 11.45pm. It followed complaints from nearby residents about loud music being played there.
There were many customers still on the premises, dancing together to the music or seated and drinking alcohol.
Officials ordered staff to turn off the music and turn on the lights. No customers were arrested, but the operator was charged and fined for breaking the provincial communicable disease committee’s order to control the spread of Covid-19.
Eateries that have met the SHA Plus or Thai Stop Covid 1 Plus standards in Muang, Chalerm Phrakiart, Chok Chai, Pak Chong, Wang Nam Khieo and Sikhiu districts of this northeastern province are allowed to serve alcohol until 11pm under a pilot tourism promotion protocol.
