Resolve long pending dues to banks: SLBC to Telangana

The State-Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC), Telangana, has appealed to State government to “resolve long-pending reimbursements” to the banks as well as address certain technical issues in the Dharani portal.

An amount of ₹725.18 crore under VLR/PV (Vaddi Leni Runalu/Pavala Vaddi) scheme is due to the banks from 2014, it said.

Other pending reimbursements the SLBC highlighted at the 32nd quarterly meeting, which reviewed performance of the banks in the State for the quarter ended December, were ₹25.93 crore due towards Rythu Bandhu-Rabi 2018 cheque printing charges as well as ₹17.46 crore towards RSETI expenditure from government of India through SERP.

Stating that technical issues in accessing and creating loan charge in Dharani (land record) portal were persisting thus adversely affecting the renewals, the SLBC also requested the State government to resolve the issues, SLBC convenor Krishnan Sharma said in a release.

Special Chief Secretary (Energy, Housing) to Telangana government Sunil Sharma, Finance Secretary Ronald Rose, RBI Regional Director K. Nikhila and senior officials of public sector and private banks as well as RRBs participated in the meeting. Chief General Manager of SBI and SLBC president Amit Jhingran made a presentation on the performance of the banks.

On the performance of the banks, the SLBC said crop loan disbursements by banks in Telangana up to December 31 this fiscal totalled ₹31,489 crore. “The banks have disbursed short-term agriculture production loans to the extent of ₹31,489 crore during current financial year, achieving 53% of the target,” it said.

The banks disbursed ₹11,709 crore agriculture term loans, up to the third quarter of 2021-22, towards investment credit as well as for agri-allied, infrastructure and ancillary activities, it said.

Total deposits of the banks, up to December, was at ₹603,548 crore, while total advances were at ₹706,123 crore. The advances grew by ₹25,889 crore (3.81%) during the quarter, the SLBC said.
