Following a deadly strike in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, residents of Majdal Shams have raised concerns about the effectiveness of the area's warning system. An eyewitness reported that the rocket hit less than five seconds after the sirens sounded, leaving no time for those on the soccer field to react.
Taymor Wili, a resident of Majdal Shams, mentioned that he witnessed the rocket hitting the soccer field from his apartment and emphasized that the children playing had no time to seek shelter between the initial alert and the impact. He noted that the safety shelter was located just yards away from the field, indicating that with more time, those present could have reached safety.
Video footage of the safety shelter revealed its proximity to the rocket's impact site, further highlighting the urgency of the situation. Several videos captured the sirens blaring for several seconds before the rocket struck, underscoring the swift nature of the attack.
Despite the concerns raised by residents, the Israeli military stated that a preliminary examination indicated that the alert system functioned correctly before the rocket hit. The military emphasized that in such situations, seeking shelter must be an immediate response to ensure safety.
