Residents horrified as popular dog walking route littered with dangerous 'rusty razors' in Leigh

Dog walkers have been warned to remain vigilant after a handful of rusty razors were found on a popular trail in Leigh. The sharp and dangerous objects were found by Bernard Baxter this morning (March 23).

The pensioner was on a walk with his beloved pet dog, Rai and wife Denise at the top of the footpath leading onto Harnwell Close near Pennington Park. And says he was ‘lucky’ to spot the razors just before his adorable parsons terrier.

Speaking to the MEN he said: “I was looking down and I spotted a razor blade, and said to my wife, this is not safe with kids and dogs As we walked along there was another one, and Denise spotted two more, I think there was six all together, I made sure they was safe and I put them in the local bin.

“It's not nice, lots of people use that footpath, it’s a nice walk round the edge of the field that brings you to the fire station. We wouldn’t want our Rai to stand on anything like that."

Bernard said he posted a warning to others on social media and has condemned the people who dumped the dangerous object for putting pets and residents in danger.

He said: “It was shocker, there’s a couple who’ve commented how nasty that was, I’ve left some messages with mates to not let their dogs out without having a proper look. The people leaving those things need to think about what they’re doing, it’s not just dogs, its kids running around their on the weekend and people like myself running around.

“We’re pensioners now, we can’t afford to get hurt.”
