Residents 'fuming' over Croke Park late night works ahead of Garth Brooks gigs

Residents living close to Croke Park have been left 'fuming' over late night works taking place tonight at the stadium ahead of Garth Brooks's gigs next week.

Dublin Live understands that residents were sent an email by Croke Park at 10pm tonight, Saturday 3 September, stating that due to "unforeseen circumstances because of the weather" that night time works have been approved by Dublin City Council. Brooks will be taking to the stage at Croker on September 9, 10, 11, 16 and 17 with more than 400,000 tickets sold for the gigs.

Brroks recently revealed that he is preparing a special stage just for the Dublin shows of his tour and that it's already under construction. In a statement tonight, residents were told: "Due to unforeseen circumstances , as a result of the weather, night time works to prevent a structural and potentially serious health and safety issue have been approved by Dublin City Council.

"Attempts are being made to ensure the noise impact to residents remains as minimal as possible. We sincerely apologise and ask for your patience in relation to this unavoidable situation," said Croke Park.

Taking to social media, residents living near Croke Park was unimpressed. One person wrote: "Only got told at 10pm tonight night time works going on at Croke Park, really late notice! I'm fuming!"

Another person said: "Absolutely ridiculous. Won't be expecting much sleep tonight."

Dublin Live has contacted Croke Park and Aiken Promotions for comment.
