Republicans have spent approximately $500 million on competitive congressional races since Labor Day without significantly improving their standing in polls, as Democratic Senate candidates maintain leads or remain tied in several battleground states, according to a Washington Post report.
Public surveys show Democrats tied or ahead in Senate contests in Alaska, Georgia, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas. Their advantage on the generic congressional ballot has also widened from approximately six to nine percentage points since Labor Day, according to polling averages compiled by analyst Nate Silver.
