Plans for the Republican National Convention remain unchanged following the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Wisconsin Republican Party Chairman Brian Schimming confirmed on Monday that the program for the convention in Milwaukee has not been altered in light of the incident.
Schimming emphasized the high level of security at the convention venue, describing it as the 'most secure place on the face of the planet.' He attributed this heightened security to the extensive preparations that were already in place prior to the violent event in Pennsylvania.
Despite the focus on security, Schimming acknowledged that the events in Pennsylvania were on everyone's minds. However, he reiterated that the convention would proceed as planned.
Regarding Trump's announcement of his running mate, Schimming indicated that the decision might not be delayed until Wednesday night. The vice presidential pick is expected to address the convention on that evening, with potential candidates such as Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum slated to speak.
Schimming expressed confidence that any of Trump's potential picks would receive unified support from the convention attendees. As the preparations continue for the Republican National Convention, the focus remains on ensuring a secure and successful event.
