Republican lawmakers have criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for choosing not to attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to Congress, deeming her decision as 'shameful.' Instead of being present at the address, Harris has opted to deliver a speech at a women's convention.
Netanyahu is scheduled to speak before a joint session of Congress on Wednesday amidst Israel's ongoing conflict with the terrorist group Hamas. Harris, who is the probable Democratic presidential nominee following President Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 race, has declined the opportunity to oversee the address and will instead address the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.'s Grand Boulé in Indianapolis, Indiana.
During a GOP press briefing on Tuesday, Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., expressed his disapproval of Harris' decision, labeling it as 'inexcusable.' Johnson emphasized that Harris's absence was due to her refusal to attend and stressed the importance of holding her accountable for this choice.
