The saga surrounding the four-team deadline-day trade that includes the Golden State Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers, Detroit Pistons and the Atlanta Hawks has taken another step.

Following the reported move on trade deadline day, the Golden State Warriors have yet to officially announce anything in reference to Payton II’s reunion with Golden State.

After the trade deadline, reports began to surface that Payton II failed his physical with the Warriors. Payton II’s physical revealed his lingering core muscle injury could rule him out for up to three months.

Payton II missed the first 35 games of the season due to a core muscle injury. The veteran wing has played 15 games this season averaging 4.1 points on 58.5% shooting from the floor with 2.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals in 17 minutes per contest.

Payton II was in the Bay Area on Saturday night in attendance for Golden State’s contest against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The trade also includes James Wiseman, Saddiq Bey, Kevin Knox and five second-round picks. All players involved in the four-team trade have yet to suit up for their new teams.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Warriors have until 6:30 p.m. PT on Super Bowl Sunday to make a decision on the trade with Payton II. The Warriors will have the opportunity to rescind the trade.
