After moving James Wiseman in a deal that involved the Detroit Pistons and the Atlanta Hawks, the Golden State Warriors weren’t done making moves before the NBA trade deadline.
During the final countdown on deadline day, the Warriors traded multiple second-round picks and Kevin Knox to acquire Gary Payton II from the Portland Trail Blazers, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Warriors received five second-round picks and Knox in the multi-team deal for Wiseman earlier in the day. The Warriors later traded the five picks and Knox for a reunion in the Bay Area with former Warriors guard Payton II.
After spending two seasons with the Warriors and winning a title last year, Payton signed with the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2022 offseason. Since landing in Portland, Payton II has played 15 games and is averaging 4.1 points on 58.5% shooting from the floor with 2.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals in 17 minutes per game.
Following the end of the deadline, the Warriors will have the chance to welcome Payton II back to Chase Center on Saturday night in a primetime matchup against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
