The Tennessee Titans are embracing the tank well ahead of the NFL trading deadline and will be sending wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report the deal.
The Titans and Chiefs are working to finalize a trade that would send wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to Kansas City, league sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The trade is expected to be completed Wednesday.
The Chiefs have had an opening at wide receiver since Rashee Rice suffered a right knee injury in Week 4 that required season-ending surgery.
Schefter adds that the Titans are expected to receive a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft in exchange for Hopkins.
Others are reporting that the Titans will receive a fifth-round pick that could become a fourth-round pick based on playing time and production.
The Chiefs lost wide receiver Hollywood Brown to a shoulder injury during the preseason, wide receiver Rashee Rice to a knee injury last month, and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to a hamstring injury this past week, so the trade naturally makes sense for them.
Hopkins, a 12-year veteran, was struggling within a non-functional Titans offense this season, hauling in just 15 receptions for 173 yards and one touchdown this season. He had become increasingly frustrated.
Now, Hopkins gets to join the high-powered Chiefs with quarterback Patrick Mahomes at the helm and a chance for a Super Bowl title.
