Report: Titans release WR Robert Woods

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly releasing veteran wide receiver Robert Woods. The news comes from Jordan Schultz of The Score.

The moves comes as zero surprise, as Woods struggled mightily in 2022 and carried a large cap hit going into 2023. With the move, the Titans will save about $12 million against the cap.

Woods was originally brought in to be the No. 2 next to A.J. Brown, but he was thrust into a No. 1 role after the trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.

In his first season back from a torn ACL, Woods struggled to get separation and with drops, although he did end up leading the team in receiving yards, which isn’t saying much considering Tennessee had one of the worst units in the entire NFL.

Woods wasn’t the only player cut on Wednesday, as left tackle Taylor Lewan announced he has been let go. Combined with the move to cut Woods, Tennessee is now under the salary cap by nearly $3 million.
