Report: Steelers Make Significant Roster Decision on Former All-Pro CB Patrick Peterson

The Pittsburgh Steelers are releasing former All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Peterson, who signed a two-year, $14 million deal with Pittsburgh last offseason, was due a $3 million roster bonus if he remained a member of the Steelers on March 16.

The eight-time Pro Bowl defensive back played in all 17 games for the Steelers last season, which included 16 starts. Peterson recorded two interceptions, 11 passes defended and 42 total tackles.

Patrick Peterson is being released by the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a Friday report.

Peterson turns 34 in July, and has proven to still be an effective player, even if he is not a lockdown defender as he once was in his prime. The 2024 season will be Peterson’s 14th in the NFL, and he should have a market for his services in free agency given how he performed last season at 33 years old.

Over the course of his 13-year career, Peterson has intercepted 36 passes, defended 122 and has recorded 652 career tackles with the Arizona Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings and Steelers.
