After two years at Texas Southern, forward Shaqir O’Neal is reportedly looking for a new home.
O’Neal has entered the transfer portal, according to a Wednesday morning report from On3’s Jamie Shaw.
The 19-year-old is the son of Hall of Fame center Shaquille O’Neal, a two-time All-American in college at LSU.
This season, O’Neal averaged 1.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game in 20 contest with a 16–17 Texas Southern team. In 2023, O’Neal averaged similar numbers—1.3 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game in 21 games.

Shaqir is the second O’Neal child to play college basketball. Shareef, O’Neal’s oldest son, played for UCLA in 2020 and LSU from 2021-22.
O’Neal’s daughter Me’arah is committed to play for Florida in 2025; another daughter, Amirah, spent time with LSU and Texas Southern but never saw the floor during the regular season.
