An internal investigation at Purdue has found that Connor Stalions, the man at the center of Michigan’s alleged sign-stealing scheme, purchased tickets to six games at Ross-Ade Stadium over the past two seasons, according to a new report from Yahoo‘s Ross Dellenger.
Tickets were purchased by Stalions for four of the first five home games this year, including matchups against Fresno State, Syracuse, Illinois and Ohio State. Stalions also purchased tickets to games in 2022 against Penn State and Northwestern.
In addition, Purdue reportedly has video footage from stadium surveillance showing individuals filming the sidelines from the seats purchased by Stalions. Dellenger noted in his report that some of the tickets that were bought by Stalions were transferred to accounts registered in names believed to be the Michigan staffer’s family members.
Purdue coach Ryan Walters addressed the sign-stealing investigation on his weekly radio show earlier this week.
“It’s unfortunate,” Walters said to host Tim Newton, per the Lafayette Journal & Courier. “What’s crazy is they aren’t allegations. It happened.”
“There’s video evidence. There’s ticket purchases and sales that you can track back,” the coach added. “We know for a fact that they were at a number of our games.”
If there wasn’t already added motivation for the Boilermakers to avenge their Big Ten title game loss in January to Michigan, perhaps the sign-stealing scheme will provide all the motivation the team needs ahead of Saturday night’s tilt in the Big House.
