The New England Patriots managed to eke out a win over the New York Jets on Sunday, but they might have lost center and team captain David Andrews in the process.
NFL Networks’ Ian Rapoport is reporting that it’s feared the veteran offensive lineman suffered a serious injury that would potentially keep him out for the rest of the season. Of course, Andrews will have to undergo more tests to confirm, but the initial news wasn’t good.
“Center David Andrews is feared to have suffered a serious thigh injury that could end his season, source said,” Rapoport posted on Twitter. “He’ll have more testing done to determine the extent, but good news is not expected. Would be a significant loss.”

Not having Andrews on the field would be a huge loss for the Patriots. It was already evident in quarterback Mac Jones getting slammed around in the pocket by Jets defenders like a grappling dummy.
Left tackle Isaiah Wynn was also forced to leave the game early with a foot injury and never returned. That could mean more James Ferentz and Yodny Cajuste as the Patriots struggle to adjust on the fly along the offensive front.
Jones was sacked six times and hit eight times in the game. It’s a real problem for a Patriots team that has continued to struggle to come away with touchdown drives over field goals.
