He is also scheduled for a second sit-down with the Falcons this week. Los Angeles and Atlanta remain the only coaching cycle vacancies for which Harbaugh has formally interviewed for. Michigan looms in the background, as they could potentially still offer him an extension.
Schefter also offered the end of this week as a timeline for a potential Harbaugh decision during Saturday’s broadcast of the playoff game between the Ravens and Texans. The Michigan head coach was in attendance for his brother, John’s, win in Baltimore.
The Chargers’ first round of interviews contained 15 candidates, the most in any of the organization’s previous head coaching searches. Jeremy Fowler reported that LA hopes to whittle the field down this week to “4-6 candidates” for a second round of interviews.
LA is still a betting favorite for Harbaugh’s team in 2024 on DraftKings at -300 odds. It’s still too early to say anything definitive, but things are clearly moving in the right direction for the 60-year-old college coach to make a leap to Los Angeles by the end of this week.
