Report: Jets Make a Critical Decision Regarding RB Dalvin Cook

The New York Jets and running back Dalvin Cook have mutually agreed to part ways, his agent told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The veteran tailback will hit the open market and look to play for a team contending to win a Super Bowl.

Cook, a four-time Pro Bowler in the last four years, had been one of the most dynamic players in the NFL, but saw a dramatic decline across the board in his first season with the Jets. After spending the first six seasons of his career with the Minnesota Vikings, Cook was released over the summer but signed with New York to compete for a Super Bowl with a revamped offense that featured the newly acquired Aaron Rodgers

However, nothing went the way it was supposed to. Rodgers tore his Achilles in the team’s first game of the season, Cook got a grand total 67 carries all year and the Jets have been eliminated from the playoffs, currently sitting at a 6–10 mark heading into Week 18.

Cook has 214 yards on the ground in 2023 and has yet to find the end zone this year, but his season isn’t over just yet.
