Report: Injured Boston Celtics forward Danilo Gallinari expected to miss training camp, return in November

If a recent estimate of when injured Boston Celtics swingman Danilo Gallinari can return to the court pans out, the Celtics and Gallinari both will be in an excellent position for the start of the 2022-23 NBA season.

Per Sportando, the injury that Gallinari sustained playing for the Italian National Team late in a FIBA qualifying game against the Georgian National Team on Saturday will keep the Celtics forward off of the court until November, with Gallo expected to miss “at least two months.” That will of course have the Italian missing training camp and the start of the regular season as well.

But, compared to some of the worst-case scenarios for his meniscal tear (itself a better option than the initially feared reinjury of his left ACL), that’s quite an acceptable alternative to a lost season or even a career-ending injury.

Gallinari has yet to play for Boston after signing a two-year, $12.3 million contract with the Celtics this summer, but with this news, fears he might never should subside.
