Report: Former Pro Bowl Running Back to Visit Colts Amid Jonathan Taylor’s Trade Request

Former Pro Bowl running back Kareem Hunt is expected to meet with the Colts on Wednesday after having what was described as a “great” visit with Saints on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

Hunt’s visit to Indianapolis comes as the future of Colts running back Jonathan Taylor remains unknown. Colts owner Jim Irsay has been vocal about the two sides not being close to a contract extension, which prompted the 24-year-old ballcarrier to request a trade ahead of the 2023 season.

Aside from Taylor, the Colts running backs include Zack Moss, Deon Jackson and Kenyan Drake. Hunt would provide the franchise with another quality veteran running back alongside the team’s current trio if Taylor does not return.

Hunt has spent the last four seasons playing for the Browns. Last season, he registered 468 rushing yards and three touchdowns while averaging 3.8 yards per carry as Nick Chubb’s backup. He produced his highest number of rushing yards (841) in Cleveland back in 2020.

However, Hunt has failed to return to his Pro Bowl caliber play when he rushed for a career-high and league-leading 1,327 yards in ‘17.

There is possibility that Hunt could still sign with the Saints, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. But as of now, the 28-year-old will continue the search in hopes of finding a new NFL home.
