The Jazz are hiring Steve Wojciechowski to coach their G League team, the Salt Lake City Stars, the team announced on Friday. Wojciechowski replaces Scott Morrison, who was promoted to become an assistant for the Jazz’s coaching staff.
Wojciechowski is best known for being Duke’s point guard in the mid-1990s, before becoming a Blue Devils assistant after graduating. He spent 15 years on the bench with Mike Krzyzweski, as Duke won two national championships in that span.
In 2014, Marquette hired Wojciechowski as their head coach, where Wojciechowski would spend seven seasons. In that span, Wojciechowski went 128–95 with Marquette and led the Golden Eagles to two NCAA tournament appearances, but the team lost in the first round to end both of those seasons.
After Marquette fired him in 2021, Wojciechowski chose to join ESPN as a college basketball analyst instead of immediately returning to coaching. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Wojciechowski spent time around the Jazz organization over the past few years, first when Quin Snyder was the coach and again after Will Hardy took over.
