Report: Dolphins, Packers were willing to give Jonathan Taylor high-market deal

The Indianapolis Colts allowed running back Jonathan Taylor to seek a trade before the roster-cut deadline, and two teams reportedly were willing to give him a contract in line with the highest-paid players at the position.

According to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports, both the Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers, who have been revealed as the mystery team, a big contract may have been on the way if a trade got done.

While many thought that part of the process would have been the most difficult part to complete a deal, it turned out to be the lack of compensation the Colts would receive in return.

According to Mike Chappell of Fox59, the Colts didn’t receive an offer that included a first or second-round pick. As Chris Ballard said in his preseason press conference, the Colts weren’t just going to give Taylor away for nothing.

There is still a possibility a trade will take place over the next two months if the relationship isn’t able to be salvaged, and it will be interesting to see if a high-market deal will still be available to Taylor if a trade does go down.
